Dieser Kaffee wird in der Sidamo-Region südlich der Hauptstadt Addis Abeba angebaut und gewachsen. Es ist die südlichste und produktivste Provinz des Landes. Die Region ist bekannt für die idealen klimatischen Bedingungen für den Anbau von Kaffee. Das liegt zum einen an der hohen Anbauhöhe von 1600 – 1900 Meter, reichlich Niederschlag und zum anderen an der optimalen Temperatur und dem fruchtbaren Boden.

Gewasche Sidamos sind in der Regel hochwertige Kaffees mit einzigartigen Geschmacksrichtungen wie süß, fruchtig, zitronig und floral, und einer idealen Balance zwischen Säure und Körper. Manche vergleichen ihn daher oft mit Kaffee aus der Region Yirgacheffe.
